Jessica Juggles Family and Hollywood Obligations

Jessica, Cash and Honor out for lunch in Brentwood.

Jessica, Cash and Honor out for lunch in Brentwood.

It’s always amazing how much energy Jessica Alba has. She always seems to be everywhere and do everything at once and she never even seems tired. This week was definitely no exception.

Today (December 11), for example, Jess and her husband Cash had lunch in Brentwood together. They went to the Gaucho Grill and, judging by their hand holding and the expressions on their faces, they’re still feeling like newlyweds. Of course, it was hard to see much of Jess’ face, considering she was wearing the over-sized sunglasses she’s taken to wearing a lot lately.

Meanwhile, last night Jessica made an appearance at the opening of the Conga Room in Los Angeles. It was quite a party. Dylan McDermott and Eva Longoria also attended and so did many other celebrity guests. The Black Eyed Peas supplied the music for the evening, but without Fergie, who was in London at the time.

It’s amazing that Jessica had the energy for such a party considering what she was up to Tuesday. Cameras caught her with Honor Marie on a play date in the park. I don’t envy Jess looking after a little one like that all day. It can take a lot out of most people, but apparently not her. She looked plenty energized the next night at the Conga Room.

The working mom’s life didn’t end there for Jessica this week, though. On Monday she was seen grocery shopping in Beverly Hills at Bristol Farms. Even great actresses need groceries, after all. She really seems to be embracing the role of wife and mother just as well as every other roll she’s played.

Speaking of roles she’s played, rumor has it that Sin City 2 is set to begin filming in Spring of 2009. Plus, she’s filming An Invisible Sign of My Own and she’s got The Killer Inside Me in pre-production!

If you’ve lost track, that means she’s playing the real-life roles of mother, wife and actress and the screen roles of a math teacher, a grieving woman and a prostitute all at once! Yet, with all that going on, she still has time to be a calendar girl. It’s amazing!

I find myself wondering what she’ll do next. Will she take Honor to the park? Will she go grocery shopping? What Hollywood hot spots will she visit next? One thing is for sure. She’s an expert juggler of family, work and time.

What roles will she take on in the future? Only time will tell. I think she ought to play a superhero again, personally. Not only was she great as Sue Storm but apparently she is a real-life wonder woman!

X-Men Fans Watch Out for Wolverine

December 12, 2008

X-Men Origins Wolverine

X-Men Origins Wolverine

X-Men fans, such as myself, are all excited about the news that there’s going to be a fourth X-Men movie. It’s called X-Men Origins: Wolverine. As the title suggests, it’s actually a prequel to the X-Men series. It’s going to show us the history of how Wolverine evolved and changed before the X-Men movies were set.

To my delight, and probably everyone else’s, Hugh Jackman is coming back as Wolverine. I have to admit that I didn’t know much about Hugh Jackman before X-Men. I didn’t even know he was Australian until after I saw it. Now, though, I could not imagine anyone else as the enigma that is Wolverine. He’s a good guy in a bad guy persona. He can be witty and even friendly, or he can be brooding and lethal. Hugh Jackman captured all of that in the first three and I expect nothing less in the new X-Men movie.

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine

X-Men Origins: Wolverine follows Wolverine as he tries to get even with Victor Creed for his girlfriend’s death. Victor Creed is played by live Schreiber and, of course, later becomes Sabertooth. The two characters have a very interesting relationship and I can’t wait to see how it plays out in the film, which is set about 20 years before the other X-Men movies.

As far as filming goes, rumor has it that Hugh took his role pretty seriously. He went into intense cardiovascular training and he started a very strict diet. He also worked out at 6am every morning in a gym in Queenstown.

Not only did he take his role as actor seriously, but his company, Seed Productions, is actually producing the movie. So, Hugh wore a couple different creative hats. I already know he’s a great actor. I just hope the director, Gavin Hood, is half as good.

It’s too bad none of the other actors from the other X-Men movies are set to make appearances. Since the movie is set 20 years back, though, that isn’t surprising. One notable appearance is Ryan Reynolds, who played Van Wilder in national Lampoon’s Van Wilder. He’s set to play Wade Wilson/Deadpool. Deadpool is, of course, an insane mercenary. He also happens to have the ability to heal, just like Wolverine. I think Ryan Reynolds is an interesting choice. He certainly has the ability to act crazy, so I can’t wait to see how he handles the role.

I don’t expect this X-Men movie to be just like the others. I do hope it’ll be great in its own way, though. I plan to be one of the first people to go see it. If you’re an X-Men fan, you should be too.

Jessica Alba – Calendar Girl

December 3, 2008

Jessica Alba Campari Calender Pics

Jessica Alba Campari Calender Pics

Jessica Alba seems like a force of nature lately. She just had baby Honor Marie with her husband, Cash Warren, a few months back. Yet, she’s already filming An Invisible Sign of My Own, which is set to come out in 2009. Plus, she’s got The Killer Inside Me and Sin City 2 in pre-production. So, now she’s a wife and mother.

She’s also playing a math teacher, a prostitute and a woman grieving a lost love in three separate movies. It’s enough to make most people’s heads spin, but not Jessica’s. She seems to thrive on juggling it all. In fact, just the other day she was seen walking with her husband and baby Honor in tow. Then all of a sudden she and hubby Cash were on a plane to Europe.

While Honor stayed behind this time, she’s already a seasoned traveler at just about six months old. She has to be, since her mom is Jessica Alba. I don’t think Jessica could sit still if she tried. So, everyone around her has to keep up with the bouncing ball that is Jessica Alba.

As if all of that wasn’t enough, Jessica can now add a new title to her resume, calendar girl. It didn’t take her long to get her figure back after having baby Honor. So, Jessica’s eager to show off her post-baby body, it seems. She’s posing for a 2009 Campari calender, to be exact.

The calendar features all sorts of sexy shots of Jessica. Yes, there are swimsuits, but there’s also evening wear and a lot of things in between. What does Jessica have to say about her new job as the face of Campari? Well, she said that it’s a nice change of pace from walking around in comfy clothes with baby Honor on her arm. She seems to have had a good time showing off her many curves, as well as trying many styles of dress.

Will the Campari calendar be good for her career? Well, that remains to be seen. A lot of people think posing for a calendar is a bit of a sell out. Is she a great actress or just a pretty face to drool over, after all?

I think there are always going to be arguments for either side. Personally, I don’t see how a person can play as many different roles as she’s played without being a good actress. I also happen to think that if you’ve got it it can’t hurt to flaunt it once in a while. It’s nice to see a relatively new mom with enough self-esteem and pride to show off her post-baby body, in my opinion.

No matter what happens, you can bet Jessica won’t stop. I don’t think she can. She’s just destined to be a whirlwind. It’s great for the rest of us, who are always looking forward to what she’ll do next.

Jessica Alba is Keeping Busy

December 3, 2008

Post baby Jessica Alba

Post baby Jessica Alba

You would think, having just had a baby a few months back, that Jessica Alba would be taking it easy, right?  Jessica’s got a lot of stuff coming up, though, especially in the movie department.  She’s definitely not slacking off.

An Invisible Sign of My Own is the movie she’s filming right now.  In it, Jessica plays Mona Gray, a math whiz with a  chip on her shoulder.  When her dad gets ill she loses all drive and faith in life.  Then  she finds work and life again when she becomes an elementary school math teacher.   In fact, she even finds romance!

Of course, Jessica herself isn’t short on romance, since she and her husband, Cash Warren, got married and had baby Honor Marie Warren recently.  So, Jessica is making time for a family life amidst her busy schedule.

Among the other movies Jessica has scheduled is The Killer Inside Me.  She’s slated to play alongside Casey Affleck.  Casey is supposedly going to play a Texas sheriff who is addicted to killing people.  Jessica, meanwhile, is set to play a prostitute of all things.  The Killer Inside Me is in pre-production and slated to come out in 2010.  I’ll say one thing for Jessica, she certainly has avoided being type cast in her career!

Then there’s Sin City 2, which is also in pre-production and set to come out in 2010.  Jessica is set to play Nancy Callahan, who is grieving the loss of her detective love.  It’s unclear who her co-stars are going to be, since the film is still in pre-production, but there are rumors that Rose McGowan from Charmed might be among them.

Jessica Alba is really proving her ability to be diverse when it comes to her acting roles.  As someone who used to love watching the remake of the Flipper TV series she was in in the mid 90’s, it’s incredible to me to see all of her recent roles.

All of a sudden the shy, quiet looking kid has blossomed into a hot Hollywood bombshell!  She really has taken the world by storm.  In fact, I like to think that part of that was due to playing a storm, Susan Storm, in the Fantastic Four movies.  Some people thought the movies were a bit lacking and I agree to a certain extent, but I thought Jessica did a great job in her role.

So what does all of this mean for Jessica?  Well, I don’t see any signs of her slowing down.  I think we can look forward to many more movies from her.  We’re bound to see many more surprises from her along the way, too!

Our Preview of the much anticipated movie “Watchmen”

December 2, 2008

Watchmen

Watchmen

Watch out for Watchmen!

Who watches the Watchmen?  Well, anyone who loved the Watchmen comic series, or who just loves super heroes, ought to, that’s for sure!  The new Watchmen movie, which is set to be released in 2009, is based on the popular comics and is set to be a huge success.

There are probably a dozen comic book movies that have been released lately.  So, why watch Watchmen?  Well, it puts a whole other spin on the super hero movie genre.

The movie is set in 1980’s America, but not the 1980’s America we all knew.  In the Watchmen version of 1985, super heroes are more or less banned.  The government has cracked down on them, so they’ve all gone into retirement, except for a select few that are controlled entirely by the government.

When one of the super heroes is murdered, though, everything changes.  All of a sudden, a hero named Rorschach, played by Jackie Earle Haley, finds himself gathering some of his old friends together to find the killer.

Soon, Rorschach and company find out that that’s not their only problem, though.  They uncover a major conspiracy.  All of them discover that there is a plot to kill them all, they have to band together, both the retired and the government controlled, to stop an unseen threat.

Rorschach and the rest of the Watchmen find that the conspiracy reaches even further than they thought.  Secrets that can reveal their past and make or break their future are being slowly uncovered.

To make matters worse, the USA and the Soviet Union are on the brink of war.  So, not only must the Watchmen protect the people and try to save the planet, they have to protect themselves, too.  Will they even bother, though?  After all, the world has cast them out.  Why should they protect it?  At least that’s what some of them think.

Can Rorschach and the other Watchmen, only one of whom really has any super powers, survive?  Can they save the world, each other and themselves?  Most of all, who is watching the Watchmen?  What do they want?

All of this excitement is brought to the big screen in 2009.  So, if you’re a fan of the DC comic series, which many people are, especially since it is one of the most popular comic book series of all time, you really should watch Watchmen when it comes out.  According to all the buzz, it’s supposed to be one of the most exciting and action packed comic books brought to the big screen in one of the most exciting and action packed movies.  So, don’t miss out on the experience!  I know I won’t!

Our preview of the soon to be cult classic “Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince”

Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince

Don’t Miss Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince!

You’d have to be living under a rock for the last several years not to at least have heard of the Harry Potter books and movies.  Now, book 6 is about to be turned into movie 6, as Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince is set to come out in 2009.

If you’ve seen the first 5 Potter movies, or even read the books, you should definitely check out Half-blood Prince when it hits theaters.  It’s supposed to be full of the typical Harry Potter magic and excitement that we’ve all come to expect from Harry movies.

As Harry goes through year six, he is going to have to contend with Horace Slughorn, a new teacher at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry.  Adding a helping hand and a fair bit of danger along the way, though, is a potions book that Harry finds.  The book used to belong to a mysterious character called the Half-Blood prince.  Within its pages, Harry finds all sorts of hand-scribbled notes and spells that lead him in many different directions.

Of course, as usual, Harry also has to contend with the friendly, but cryptic, professor Dumbledore and the not friendly at all Draco Malfoy.  Of course, no Harry Potter movie would be complete without Lord Voldemort either.  Harry is convinced that Draco is working for Voldemort and Harry makes it his business to find out how and why.  As for Dumbledore, Harry starts private lessons with him to delve deep into Lord Voldemort’s past, bringing an even deeper dimension tot he story.

Of course, Harry, Ron, Hermione and the rest of their friends also have to do daily lessons and deal with typical teenage angst.  Girlfriends, boyfriends, arguments and laughter bring some reality to Harry’s magical world.

If you’ve seen the other Harry Potter movies, you’ll also be glad to know that all your favorite actors have returned for the sixth installment.   Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, David Thewlis, Robbie Coltrane and Michael Gambon are all coming back to Hogwarts this year.

This latest installment in the Harry Potter movie series is supposed to be absolutely packed with action, adventure, romance, suspense, comedy and tragedy.  So, if you want to go to a movie that really covers all the bases and that you could even take your kids to, be sure to check out Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince in 2009.
