20th Century Fox’s Tooth Fairy, opening January 22nd and starring Dwayne Johnson, Ashley Judd, Julie Andrews, Stephen Merchant and Ryan Sheckler.
Johnson plays “The Tooth Fairy,” also known as Derek Thompson, a hard-charging minor league hockey player whose nickname comes from his habit of separating opposing players from their bicuspids. At first, Derek “can’t handle the tooth” – bumbling and stumbling as he tries to furtively wing his way through strangers’ homes…doing what tooth fairies do. But as Derek slowly adapts to his new position,he begins to rediscover his own forgotten dreams.

The Crazies
Plot Summary: Imagine living in a small town where everything is safe and happy… until suddenly it isn’t. Imagine your friends and neighbors going quickly and horrifically insane. In a terrifying tale of the “American Dream” gone horribly wrong, four friends find themselves trapped in their hometown in “The Crazies,” a reinvention of the George Romero classic directed by Breck Eisner from a screenplay by Ray Wright (”Pulse,” “Case 39″) and Scott Kosar (”The Amityville Horror,” “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”).
David Dutton (Timothy Olyphant) is sheriff of Ogden Marsh, a picture-perfect American town with happy, law-abiding citizens. But one night, one of them comes to a school baseball game with a loaded shotgun, ready to kill. Another man burns down his own house…after locking his wife and young son in a closet inside. Within days, the town has transformed into a sickening asylum; people who days ago lived quiet, unremarkable lives have now become depraved, blood-thirsty killers, hiding in the darkness with guns and knives. Sheriff Dutton tries to make sense of what’s happening as the horrific, nonsensical violence escalates. Something is infecting the citizens of Ogden Marsh… with insanity. Now complete anarchy reigns as one by one the townsfolk succumb to an unknown toxin and turn sadistically violent. In an effort to keep the madness contained, the government uses deadly force to close off all access and won’t let anyone in or out – even those uninfected. The few still sane find themselves trapped: Sheriff Dutton; his pregnant wife, Judy (Radha Mitchell); Becca (Danielle Panabaker), an assistant at the medical center; and Russell (Joe Anderson), Dutton’s deputy and right-hand man. Forced to band together, an ordinary night becomes a horrifying struggle for survival as they do their best to get out of town alive.

Capitalism: A Love Story
October 3, 2009

Michael Moore's: Capitalism: A Love Story
Plot Summary: On the 20-year anniversary of his groundbreaking masterpiece “Roger & Me,” Michael Moore’s “Capitalism: A Love Story” comes home to the issue he’s been examining throughout his career: the disastrous impact of corporate dominance on the everyday lives of Americans (and by default, the rest of the world). But this time the culprit is much bigger than General Motors, and the crime scene far wider than Flint, Michigan. From Middle America, to the halls of power in Washington, to the global financial epicenter in Manhattan, Michael Moore will once again take filmgoers into uncharted territory. With both humor and outrage, Michael Moore’s “Capitalism: A Love Story” explores a taboo question: What is the price that America pays for its love of capitalism? Years ago, that love seemed so innocent. Today, however, the American dream is looking more like a nightmare as families pay the price with their jobs, their homes and their savings. Moore takes us into the homes of ordinary people whose lives have been turned upside down; and he goes looking for explanations in Washington, DC and elsewhere. What he finds are the all-too-familiar symptoms of a love affair gone astray: lies, abuse, betrayal… and 14,000 jobs being lost every day. “Capitalism: A Love Story” is both a culmination of Moore’s previous works and a look into what a more hopeful future could look like. It is Michael Moore’s ultimate quest to answer the question he’s posed throughout his illustrious filmmaking career: Who are we and why do we behave the way that we do?

X-Men Fans Watch Out for Wolverine
December 12, 2008
X-Men fans, such as myself, are all excited about the news that there’s going to be a fourth X-Men movie. It’s called X-Men Origins: Wolverine. As the title suggests, it’s actually a prequel to the X-Men series. It’s going to show us the history of how Wolverine evolved and changed before the X-Men movies were set.
To my delight, and probably everyone else’s, Hugh Jackman is coming back as Wolverine. I have to admit that I didn’t know much about Hugh Jackman before X-Men. I didn’t even know he was Australian until after I saw it. Now, though, I could not imagine anyone else as the enigma that is Wolverine. He’s a good guy in a bad guy persona. He can be witty and even friendly, or he can be brooding and lethal. Hugh Jackman captured all of that in the first three and I expect nothing less in the new X-Men movie.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine follows Wolverine as he tries to get even with Victor Creed for his girlfriend’s death. Victor Creed is played by live Schreiber and, of course, later becomes Sabertooth. The two characters have a very interesting relationship and I can’t wait to see how it plays out in the film, which is set about 20 years before the other X-Men movies.
As far as filming goes, rumor has it that Hugh took his role pretty seriously. He went into intense cardiovascular training and he started a very strict diet. He also worked out at 6am every morning in a gym in Queenstown.
Not only did he take his role as actor seriously, but his company, Seed Productions, is actually producing the movie. So, Hugh wore a couple different creative hats. I already know he’s a great actor. I just hope the director, Gavin Hood, is half as good.
It’s too bad none of the other actors from the other X-Men movies are set to make appearances. Since the movie is set 20 years back, though, that isn’t surprising. One notable appearance is Ryan Reynolds, who played Van Wilder in national Lampoon’s Van Wilder. He’s set to play Wade Wilson/Deadpool. Deadpool is, of course, an insane mercenary. He also happens to have the ability to heal, just like Wolverine. I think Ryan Reynolds is an interesting choice. He certainly has the ability to act crazy, so I can’t wait to see how he handles the role.
I don’t expect this X-Men movie to be just like the others. I do hope it’ll be great in its own way, though. I plan to be one of the first people to go see it. If you’re an X-Men fan, you should be too.

Our Preview of the much anticipated movie “Watchmen”
December 2, 2008
Watch out for Watchmen!
Who watches the Watchmen? Well, anyone who loved the Watchmen comic series, or who just loves super heroes, ought to, that’s for sure! The new Watchmen movie, which is set to be released in 2009, is based on the popular comics and is set to be a huge success.
There are probably a dozen comic book movies that have been released lately. So, why watch Watchmen? Well, it puts a whole other spin on the super hero movie genre.
The movie is set in 1980’s America, but not the 1980’s America we all knew. In the Watchmen version of 1985, super heroes are more or less banned. The government has cracked down on them, so they’ve all gone into retirement, except for a select few that are controlled entirely by the government.
When one of the super heroes is murdered, though, everything changes. All of a sudden, a hero named Rorschach, played by Jackie Earle Haley, finds himself gathering some of his old friends together to find the killer.
Soon, Rorschach and company find out that that’s not their only problem, though. They uncover a major conspiracy. All of them discover that there is a plot to kill them all, they have to band together, both the retired and the government controlled, to stop an unseen threat.
Rorschach and the rest of the Watchmen find that the conspiracy reaches even further than they thought. Secrets that can reveal their past and make or break their future are being slowly uncovered.
To make matters worse, the USA and the Soviet Union are on the brink of war. So, not only must the Watchmen protect the people and try to save the planet, they have to protect themselves, too. Will they even bother, though? After all, the world has cast them out. Why should they protect it? At least that’s what some of them think.
Can Rorschach and the other Watchmen, only one of whom really has any super powers, survive? Can they save the world, each other and themselves? Most of all, who is watching the Watchmen? What do they want?
All of this excitement is brought to the big screen in 2009. So, if you’re a fan of the DC comic series, which many people are, especially since it is one of the most popular comic book series of all time, you really should watch Watchmen when it comes out. According to all the buzz, it’s supposed to be one of the most exciting and action packed comic books brought to the big screen in one of the most exciting and action packed movies. So, don’t miss out on the experience! I know I won’t!

Our preview of the soon to be cult classic “Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince”
December 2, 2008
Don’t Miss Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince!
You’d have to be living under a rock for the last several years not to at least have heard of the Harry Potter books and movies. Now, book 6 is about to be turned into movie 6, as Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince is set to come out in 2009.
If you’ve seen the first 5 Potter movies, or even read the books, you should definitely check out Half-blood Prince when it hits theaters. It’s supposed to be full of the typical Harry Potter magic and excitement that we’ve all come to expect from Harry movies.
As Harry goes through year six, he is going to have to contend with Horace Slughorn, a new teacher at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Adding a helping hand and a fair bit of danger along the way, though, is a potions book that Harry finds. The book used to belong to a mysterious character called the Half-Blood prince. Within its pages, Harry finds all sorts of hand-scribbled notes and spells that lead him in many different directions.
Of course, as usual, Harry also has to contend with the friendly, but cryptic, professor Dumbledore and the not friendly at all Draco Malfoy. Of course, no Harry Potter movie would be complete without Lord Voldemort either. Harry is convinced that Draco is working for Voldemort and Harry makes it his business to find out how and why. As for Dumbledore, Harry starts private lessons with him to delve deep into Lord Voldemort’s past, bringing an even deeper dimension tot he story.
Of course, Harry, Ron, Hermione and the rest of their friends also have to do daily lessons and deal with typical teenage angst. Girlfriends, boyfriends, arguments and laughter bring some reality to Harry’s magical world.
If you’ve seen the other Harry Potter movies, you’ll also be glad to know that all your favorite actors have returned for the sixth installment.  Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, David Thewlis, Robbie Coltrane and Michael Gambon are all coming back to Hogwarts this year.
This latest installment in the Harry Potter movie series is supposed to be absolutely packed with action, adventure, romance, suspense, comedy and tragedy. So, if you want to go to a movie that really covers all the bases and that you could even take your kids to, be sure to check out Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince in 2009.
